At the moment we are looking to fill the vacancy of Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) in our teams based within Cumbria including Carlisle and Barrow areas and the York area and North Yorkshire.
We trust and allow the colleagues to function in a hybrid model and make available the resources, inventories and assistance, so that each one of us and all of us together, can be the voice of children and young people when their lives are being determined in the family court.
Currently in the public and private law team for cumbria we have 2 vacancies and in the York public and private law teams we have 2 vacancies.
While these positions are based within the offices of Blackburn for the Cumbrian functions and York for York and North Yorkshire functions, all teams tend to be flexibly and remotely active, location from office does not have to be of prime concern all the time.
We have been able to bring together people from all walks of life under our umbrella and in so doing create an environment which helps us offer a service that embraces the richness of children and families from every sphere of society. We are especially interested in receiving applications from diverse backgrounds as we work to make our staff representative of the children and families we are working with.
We offer a wide range of wellbeing support for colleagues along with superb benefits and all these we hope will make you want to come and work for us.
Please allow me to elaborate on the role itself…
Based in the Public and Private Law Department, Family Court Advisers work on a large variety of cases that would include a scenario where the families need assistance in reaching an agreement regarding the best possible arrangement for a child(ren) placed in their care or where there are concerns from the Local Authority and Cafcass is requested in the case. Family Court Advisers in the ordinary course of their duties do perform direct work with children, soliciting their opinions and preferences and advocating for these in written submissions and in court including making arguments for arrangements that would be most beneficial for the children.
…. And what we shall be seeking.
A Family Court Adviser job is very satisfying and rewarding in nature, however, it is not suited for everybody. One has to be an organised eligible social worker with Social Work England registration who is determined and can work without supervision. Being confident in yourself, you would have a number of experiences that helped you work with children and families as a Social Worker for a reasonable period of time, with some kind of relevant experience from earlier in your career.
Evidently, you will be able to find out more about the above – and much more – before you apply and we also recommend you read the job description.
