Fire Safety Officer Job Description: Fire safety officer Location: The role would predominately cover the south of the UK prime locations around M4 Corridor: Slough, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Reading, Newbury, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, Newport Permanent full time position: 37.5 hours Salary range: Initial salary of £40,000 per annum, going up to £42,000 at the end of the probation period. This job is hybrid but requires traveling through the South of England hence a role specific vehicle will be allocated each staff member and there is the scope for staff to work in a hybrid or flexible working patterns. Role Overview As a Fire Safety Officer, it is your duty to make sure that the organization makes a serious commitment to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and performs proper risk assessments and surveys to protect the building.
The title of Fire Safety Officer is being actively advertised to the South of England. This is an exciting and challenging role for those who are a domain expert on fire safety and fire management. The preferred applicant should have worked in a similar sector or environment and will see to it that the organization’s fire safety policies and procedures concerning all of its properties are fully operational and compliant with mentioned regulations. What you’ll doing:
Conduct ‘ thorough’ fire risk assessing of site residential care homes, offices, dental practices and clinics up to op 200 site portfolios.
Carry out ‘detailed’ fire reassuring surveys on both the active and passive fire protection measures.
Conduct fire door surveys as necessary to include where or by the order of the health and safety and fire manager specialist.
You will need to interact and advise the home, practice and property managers with the circumstances that are found and actions required
When needed undertake the post fire inspections
One is responsible for every issue concerning fire safety
What you will bring The knowledge and understanding of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, The Building Regulations part B- Fire safety Approved Document and CLG Fire Safety Guides.
Stakeholders who are quite influential, and are willing and able to engage in communication at any level.
Technology skills – particularly in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Current Full driving license in the United Kingdom.
Knowledge and understanding of Various British Standards regarding fire safety including – BS 5839; BS 5266; BS 5306; BS 9251; BS 9999.
Required Qualifications
Practical and applicable fire safety principles – Fire Safety Modules or any one of it on fire risk assessment registered from Fire Service College Moreton in Marsh (ideal, however, not necessarily if these courses have been attended or qualifications obtained BTEC, NEBOSH.)
Associate’s degree in fire protection management or fire service administration – helpful
Member/Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineering or similar organizations like IFSM.
