As a member of this team, the Senior Environmental Risk Manager will serve as a lead assessor of environmental risk for key strategic initiatives. This senior manager will work closely with team members from Environmental & Properties Risk, business development, real estate, sourcing, finance, legal, EHS, governmental affairs, communications, operations, and facilities to provide environmental insight and considerations into key initiatives and to ensure appropriate environmental risk review. The GE Vernova Environmental & Properties Risk team in the GE Vernova Supply Chain Development organization provides strategic and technical support to manage environmental risk across the GE Vernova global footprint. As a member of this team, the Senior Environmental Risk Manager will serve as a lead assessor of environmental risk for key strategic initiatives. This senior manager will work closely with team members from Environmental & Properties Risk, business development, real estate, sourcing, finance, legal, EHS, governmental affairs, communications, operations, and facilities to provide environmental insight and considerations into key initiatives and to ensure appropriate environmental risk review. In addition, this role will be responsible for managing a limited portfolio of remedial projects.

What you’ll do
In serving as the lead assessor of environmental risk for GE Vernova’s strategic initiatives, the Senior Environmental Risk Manager will identify, assess, and communicate complex issues of environmental risk and trade-offs to a wide range of internal stakeholders. This role will provide dedicated environmental support for:
- Business Development (e.g., leading environmental due diligence and risk evaluations for acquisitions, divestitures, joint venture opportunities, etc.);
- real estate transactions (purchases, sales, leases);
- business restructurings (plant closures, integrations, operational relocations);
- new projects and initiatives; and
- global environmental consultant support contracts.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Establishing and maintaining communication rhythms with key internal stakeholder groups such as business development, real estate, sourcing, and finance.
- Developing standard operating best practices, guidance and/or processes to ensure consistent and appropriate environmental risk review.
- Develop appropriate KPIs, track critical milestones, action plans, risks and help needed.
- Serve as expert resource by staying up to date with environmental due diligence issues, approaches and standards.
In addition this role will be responsible for managing the investigation and remediation of a limited portfolio of remedial projects through the management of external consultants and coordination with key internal stakeholders including finance, sourcing, EHS, legal, business leadership, communications and governmental affairs. The size and scope of this limited portfolio to be determined based on the geographic location and expertise of the successful candidate relative to the balance of the GE Vernova Environmental & Property Risk team.
It is possible that these responsibilities may be rebalanced with other similar responsibilities depending on the demands and capacity within the Environmental & Properties Risk Team.
Qualifications
General Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University or College in environmental science, geology, engineering, biology, chemistry, or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ applied project management experience in environmental, remediation and/or EHS within a company, regulatory agency and/or consulting firm.
- Demonstrated experience in providing environmental real estate and/or M&A transactional support including:
- Expert familiarity of ASTM standard and process for assessing risk via Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments;
- Demonstrated experience preparing/using of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments to assess risks;
- Experience leading and coordinating environmental due diligence efforts for large, complex transactions.
- Ability to understand materiality, risks and trade-offs relative to other considerations.
- Understanding of legal requirements, regulatory environment, environmental risk, reputational considerations, local issues, etc.
- Proven ability to coordinate with consultant teams to generate project cost estimates, scopes of work, proposals, and reports.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication (oral/written) skills.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills within diverse teams.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information in an easy to understand manner.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating technical, financial, reputational and legal components of projects.
- Strong technical and analytical aptitude to understand and articulate complicated trade-offs.
- Experience working with sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience working cross-culturally in large, matrixed organizations and ability to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships, etc.
- Ability and willingness to travel including internationally (~30% travel).
- Proficiency with MS Office Programs including Microsoft Excel.
- English proficiency.
Qualifications That Will Make You Stand Out
- Graduate degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, biology, chemistry, business or relevant related discipline.
- Experience in remediation projects involving soil, groundwater and soil vapor issues; ideally experience includes PCBs, hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents.
- Experience preparing financial estimations and planning necessary for long-term remedial projects.
- Experience interacting with government regulators and external environmental community as necessary.
- Familiarity with LEAN principals.
- Highly collaborative person with outstanding communication skills
- Strategic and flexible thinker who uses a 360 degree perspective to assess risks.
- Ability to problem-solve creatively, to be flexible and think outside the box.
- Ability to see big picture while not losing sight of critical details.

- Demonstrated project management skills including project initiation, scoping, resorting, scheduling, budgeting, risk management and communication.
If contracted in the U.S. the following apply:
The salary range for this position is 144,600.00 – 183,600.00 – 244,900.00 USD Annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 15% variable incentive compensation.
