Overview

(Senior) HR Generalist

 

Location: Germany (remote) or Austria

To strengthen our Human Resources division, we are looking for a Sr. HR Generalist (m/f/d) with a specialized focus on works council activities to join our team. In this role, you are the first point of contact for all works councils in Germany and Austria, fostering positive relationships between the company and its works council, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and supporting various HR function.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the works council in Germany and Austria.
  • Facilitates regular meetings between management and the works council.
  • Ensures transparent and effective communication between the company and the works council.
  • Drafts and works closely with legal counsel on collective agreements. Assists in the negotiation and implementation of collective agreements.
  • Provides guidance and support on works council matters to HR and management teams.
  • Advises management on legal and regulatory requirements related to works councils.
  • Keeps up-to-date with changes in labor laws and regulations.
  • Prepares regular data reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) and leads the salary insights meetings.
  • Addresses inquiries and concerns related to works council activities.
  • Mediates and resolves conflicts between employees, management and works council when necessary.
  • Reviews works council training applications and grants if valid and necessary.
  • Tracks works council expenses against budget and keeps works council apprised of spent.
  • Prepares works council hearings as applicable (i.e. transfers, terminations). Tracks status and informs HRBP/Manager accordingly.
  • Assists in general HR duties of the employee life cycle, including but not limited to data entry, development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, and assists in administration of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Supports the performance management process and informs works council were required.
  • Close cooperation with the HR Team to advance projects in the DACH region.

 

Your skills

  • Completed commercial training with an additional qualification in the field of HR, a degree in business administration or a comparable qualification
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years focused on works council activities or labor relations
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations
  • Hands-on mentality with independent work and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with works councils and other employee representatives
  • Resilient team player, motivated and committed personality with a high degree of reliability, trustworthiness and diligence
  • Willingness to travel to various locations within Germany and Austria
  • Good written and spoken English and German language skills are required
